Biography
Victoria is a computational epidemiology researcher working with Dr. Nadia Abuelezam on modeling disparities in infectious disease outcomes in the United States. She is particularly interested in quantitative intersectionality methods and advancements in machine learning techniques for small sample sizes.
She received her MPH from the University of Michigan in 2023, where she studied epigenetics and healthy aging. Victoria grew up in Traverse City, MI.

In this paper, we argue that “umbrella” variables for socioeconomic status frequently used in vulnerability or disadvantage indices (i.e. “no college + unemployment + renting + public insurance, etc), mask how mechanisms of structural racism are differentially related to each other.
